Since its creation in 1922 Blue Ridge Leaders’ School has retained its basic philosophy of training teens to be leaders in all aspects of YMCA physical education. The purpose of Blue Ridge Leaders’ School is teen leadership development through YMCA health and physical education. Blue Ridge Leaders’ School is not a camp. Rather it is a physical education training school profoundly structured with high standards of behavior, physical participation, and individual performance.
Blue Ridge Leaders’ School is thrilled to have returned to one session for summer 2026! Leaders’ and staff from 16 states came together for a week of leadership that challenges teens in spirit, mind, and body. It was magical!
All participants attending Blue Ridge Leaders’ School are active members of a YMCA Leaders’ Club at their home YMCA and travel to Black Mountain, NC as a group led by their Advisor. The Advisor leads the registration process within their Club and communicates with the School Registrar.
