Chris Young
YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly
Board President 2026 – 2030
Chris Young retired as an Executive at First Citizens Bank in Raleigh after a 35–year career in banking. As a regional executive, she managed a thriving network in Central North Carolina and South Carolina as well as business development efforts in the Wisconsin region. During her career she also mentored a number of associates who went on to earn senior leadership roles.
She is an artist. She is known to carry a sketchbook while hiking and exploring filling the pages with drawing that are later translated to oil or acrylic paintings at her Cary Studio.
Chris is a dedicated community leader working with organizations in the greater Wake County area including serving the Cary Family YMCA as a Board Member and currently name a member of the YMCA of the Triangle Board of Trustees.
Chris joined the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly Board of Directors in 2017 and currently serves as the Vice Chair. She first came to the Mountain the summer of 1980 when she joined the collegiate staff. She remembers working rotations in the kitchen (cracked hundreds of eggs by hand and ran Hobart the dishwasher!), crafts, front desk (used a switchboard to help homesick teens call home), and housekeeping. She recalls working hard (just like everyone else), having fun, leaning into servant leadership and hiking her first mountain. She also decided to change my college major to Finance. It was quite a life–changing summer!
