Field trips have been proven to build empathy, supplement classroom learning with hands-on projects, expose children to new activities, and impart real-world experience. Our Go Outside, Grow Outside Program provides tailored programming for school groups including experiential learning, teambuilding, and outdoor adventure activities.
At YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly, we provide opportunities for structured and unstructured outside time, giving youth a chance to experience nature and learn at the same time. Our goal is to raise $15,000 to support school field trips and outdoor experiences! We will use the money to provide scholarships and make these trips affordable for economically disadvantaged schools and reach out to schools who may not be aware of the outdoor opportunities we offer. We will also offer low-cost outdoor activity options to all groups who want to encourage youth to Go Outside, Grow Outside. We are currently serving local school groups from 6 Western North Carolina counties, as well as other schools in North Carolina, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Illinois, and Georgia!
