Tom Thrailkill’s influence on youth physical education and teen leadership development is beyond measure. Through his twenty-five year tenure as the Director of YMCA Blue Ridge Leaders’ School, Tom left an imprint on thousands of teens that will last throughout their lives. Having lost Tom in April 2015, it is appropriate that his impact be memorialized. Through YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly's IMPACTING LIVES FOR A LIFETIME Capital Campaign, we are able to give in honor of his legacy. At the School’s conclusion each year Tom would present the school patches, announce the new class of Honor Leaders and make his closing remarks in the auditorium inside of Heaton Hall. In fact, this is where Tom performed his final action as School Director when he retired from the role in 1995. Through the collective giving of Leaders School alumni and friends like yourself, we are seeking to raise a total of $100,000 and make the Tom Thrailkill Auditorium a reality. This is no small task, but neither was Tom’s commitment to teens. It is fitting to match the memorial with the passion of the man being memorialized. The vision is to ensure a permanent reminder to future teens that they have a tremendous history shaping their leadership and have tremendous potential ahead of them. Gifts are payable over a five year period. Please help honor the man who committed his career to insuring that youth physical education and teen leadership development was manifest in YMCAs throughout the southeast.
