YMCA Blue Ridge is now offering experiential learning workshops in environmental education, STEM, and outdoor adventure for small learning pods of 5-9 kids in 3rd through 8th grade. These workshops are designed to meet the needs of your child’s mind, body and spirit by getting children outside in a safe environment where they can learn and grow.

PROGRAMS FOR THE MIND:
Environmental Education Programs
Our environmental education (EE) programs cover a multitude of different ecological topics that can fit the educational standards in North Carolina science. For example: Third graders study plants as part of their science curriculum; therefore, we would gear our forest ecology class to meet those standards for 3rd grade science. Our programs include animal, stream and forest ecology.
The STEM program is a new program at YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly! Our STEM curriculum covers 3rd -8th grade science standards in physics, earth science, biology, chemistry, and math and ratios.
Team development is an important skill and is especially beneficial in the beginning of the school year. Our team development class has been altered to allow for social distancing while also allowing students to experience working as a team to achieve a goal.
Survival skills includes learning how to build primitive shelter, fire making skills, campfire cooking, Leave No Trace Skills, knot tying, and more!
