Betty Carr Endowment

Betty Carr's Legacy

Elizabeth "Betty" Carr was a caring, dedicated YMCA professional who influenced countless youth in Anniston, AL, the state of Alabama and beyond, spreading the principles of the YMCA across the nation. During her 18 years as Youth Director and Program Director for the Anniston YMCA, Betty faithfully oversaw summer camps, Hi-Y, and Youth in Government, led teens to the Conference on National Affairs (CONA) and the Christian Values Conference (CVC), and gave life and meaning to each program she served. Her lifelong passion was making the world a better place, and she inspired others to deploy this principle. Betty Carr was a shining example of all that YMCA could mean to a community, and she was chosen as an inductee into the Class of 2021 YMCAs of the Southeast Hall of Fame, which is housed at YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly.

The Betty Carr Endowment Fund

As Betty was passionate about getting as many teens to YMCA Blue Ridge for CONA and CVC as possible, the Betty Carr Endowment is focused on removing the inevitable financial challenges that many have in attending these youth conferences. Everyone deserves a Mountaintop experience, whether it be to grow in leadership, build in faith, strengthen self-confidence or nourish passion for politics. The spirit at YMCA Blue Ridge continues to renew and impact more than ever.

Please consider growing this endowment to help more teens experience the conferences that Betty held so dear.
